‘Sunrise’ organizes facilitation prog for Deck Cadets

JAMMU, Feb 20: Sunrise, a Marine Career Counselling Centre, organized a facilitation programme for Deck Cadets from the State who were sponsored in leading shipping companies in the world, for February 2013 batch. The programme was aimed at encouraging the young generation of the State to join Merchant Navy as an officer.
Sardar Jagbir Singh, Commander (retd), Indian Navy, who is also the advisor of Sunrise, was the chief guest. In his address, Singh described Merchant Navy the best field and appealed the younger generation of the State to join it. He appreciated the efforts made by Sunrise and its whole team for spreading awareness about the Merchant Navy in the youth of the State by organizing such programmes.
Rajesh Sharma, CEO, Sunrise said since 2006 they are giving guidance to the youth of the State to join Merchant Navy as officer and now they are planning to open the office in each district of the State so that maximum number of students from the State can join this profession.
Manpreet Kour, SEO, said this time we are facilitating the students namely Atinder Singh, Amit Gupta, Gurvinder Singh, Sahil Gupta, Karan Sawhney, Jaspreet Singh, Jaspreet Singh Wazir, Sumit Gupta, Harish Kumar, Bharat Bhushan and Akash Bhau in leading Shipping companies like Great Eastern, Fleet Management and Bernhard Schulte Management.
Describing about the eligibility to enter into the profession, she said any student having passed class 12 examination in Non-Medical stream with good percentage is eligible to enter into this profession. Just after one year training, one starts earning approximately Rs 20000 to Rs 40000 per month.
This time we are also sponsoring students from weaker sections, who secured 85 to 90% in class 12th with PCM subjects, she told the gathering.
