SRINAGAR, Apr 21: Youth Wing of J&K Congress Committee sought a decisive mandate from the people of Anantnag for his Congress party in the ensuing Lok Sabha elections.
Intensifying election campaign in support of Congress Lok Sabha candidate in Anantnag, Dr Shakeel Ahmed Khan, AICC secretary said “We are seeking a decisive mandate from the people of the state for the Congress party in the ensuing Lok Sabha elections.”
AICC secretary asserted it is the Congress-led Government alone which has proved credentials of being pro-development and that it alone can meet the expectations of the flood-ravaged people. He asserted that the previous regime of Coalition Government was unresponsive to woes of the people. He said that the government has failed to translate any of its election promises into reality.
Appealing the people to strengthen the Congress Party, AICC Secretary vowed not to relent and to take the fight of common masses to its logical conclusion. He lambasted the previous PDP-BJP government for failing to translate any of its election time promises into reality. He said that the previous regime had not only ignored its election manifesto but had inflicted the biggest dent upon the hopes of common people. He said that various sections of society who had supported the PDP-BJP with unprecedented mandate were seething with anger against the surrenders of BJP just for power.
Speaking on the occasion, Hilal Shah JKPCC general secretary termed the promises made by previous government as mere bluffs, adding that voters were fed up with the sheer opportunism of it.
“PDP-BJP took the extreme positions on most of the emotional issues and exploited their respective constituencies to the hilt, with a false and deceptive promise,” Shah said.
Shahnawaz Choudhary, PCC general secretary, in his address, reminded the Congress-led government between 2006 and 2008 which laid emphasis on equitable, balanced and all-round development of the state. He emphasized for better future of the youth and to revive an era of prosperity, development and fast-track infrastructure building, the people should allow the Congress an opportunity to lead the Nation.
Recalling the thrust laid on speedy and time-bound execution of developmental projects to set the State on the path of prosperity and progress, Uday Bhanu Chib JKPYC President said it was the Congress- led government which scripted a new chapter of development- oriented governance in the State. He highlighted stated that Congress its manifesto has committed to give women reservation upto 33 per cent reservation and free education upto class 12th.
