Geelani’s son questioned by NIA in terror funding case

Senior separatist leader of the hardliner faction of All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) Syed Ali Shah Geelani waves to his supporters outside his house as he arrives to participate in a march towards an army base in Srinagar, Indian controlled Kashmir, Saturday, Aug. 27, 2016. A strict curfew, a series of communication blackouts and a tightening crackdown have failed to stop some of Kashmir's largest protests against Indian rule in recent years, triggered by the killing of a popular rebel commander on July 8. NEW DELHI: Nayeem Geelani, the son of pro-Pakistan separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani, appeared before the National Investigation Agency for questioning in connection with a case related to funding of terror groups and separatist organisations in Jammu and Kashmir, officials said here.

Nayeem Geelani, who had been evading questioning by the NIA for long, appeared on Monday and a detailed questioning took place on Tuesday.

Geelani’s questioning comes days after the NIA quizzed moderate Hurriyat Conference chief Mirwaiz Umer Farooq in connection with the same case. (AGENCIES)
