JAMMU, Apr 25: World Malaria Day was observed today in various Government and private health institutions across Jammu province.
To commemorate the day, Director Health Services, Jammu, Dr Samir Mattoo, today flagged off an awareness rally. The event was organized by State Malariologist, Jammu, under Nation Vector Borne Disease Control Programme aimed at creating awareness regarding prevention, control and elimination of Malaria from the State. The theme for this year’s World Malaria Day is “Zero Malaria Starts With Me”.
The procession started from Directorate of Health Services Jammu and covered prominent places of Jammu urban area. IEC material was disseminated among the people during the rally.
Jammu Institute of Ayurveda and Research (JIAR) organized a programme to observe World Malaria Day. Various power point presentations and poster presentations were given by PG scholars and students of final year BAMS. The whole event was coordinated by Dr Twinkle Gupta, Associate Professor and Dr Poonam Gupta, Assistant Professor of PG department of Kayachikitsa. The session was organized under the supervision of Chairperson JIAR Suman Sharma and Managing Directors, Ravish and Ritesh.
To celebrate the Day, District Information Centre (DIC) Ramban organized a symposium at DISHA Institute of Paramedical & Nursing Science, Ramban. Chairman of the Institute, Hilal Wani was the chief guest on the occasion. As many as 12 students of the Institute participated in the symposium on the topic “Importance of good health” and expressed their views on the topic.
A function to observe World Malaria Day was organized in CMO office Udhampur under the chairmanship of CMO Udhampur, Dr K C Dogra. Deputy CMO Dr Santosh Sharma, DHO Dr Janak Raj, AD Planning Darshan Kumar and all staff members of the CMO/Deputy CMO office were present. While speaking on the occasion, CMO Udhampur made the participants aware about their responsibilities regarding the programme.
The Day was celebrated today all across district Samba under the theme “Zero Malaria Starts With Me”. The main function was held at New Type Primary Health Centre, Bassi Kalan under the supervision of Chief Medical Officer, Samba. A large number of people including hospital staff, general public, PRI members, and prominent citizens of the area were present at the function. At District Hospital Samba, the function was conducted by Dr Indra Batyal, Medical Superintendent of the Hospital.
