ACB produces challan against ACD, BDO, others

Withdrawal of Rs 10 lakh against non-executed works

DODA, Apr 26: Anti-Corruption Bureau today produced challan against Ghulam Nabi Balwan, the then Assistant Commissioner Development (ACD), Kishtwar, Mohd Yasin Mir, the then Block Development Officer (BDO) Drabshalla, Chet Singh, the then Junior Assistant BDO office Drabshalla and a contractor Khalid Hussain in the Anti-Corruption Court Doda.
An official spokesman said that during the course of verification into the allegation of misappropriation of MGNREGA funds it came to the fore that the accused public servants by abusing their official positions had withdrawn an amount of Rs 10 lakh against four non-executed works and paid the same to the contractor Khalid Hussain.
Accordingly, a formal case was registered against them and during the course of further investigation it was found that the accused public servants in criminal conspiracy with the accused contractor had fabricated the official record by preparing fake muster sheets and had released Rs 10 lakh in favour of the accused contractor against the non-executed works as such caused huge loss to the exchequer.
The next date of hearing in the case has been fixed for 14.05.2019.
