College teachers discuss their issues with Secy Higher Education

JAMMU, Apr 27: A delegation of the College Teachers Association (CTA), led by its president Prof D S Manhas today called on Talat Parvez Rohella, Secretary, Higher Education Department, J&K State, to discuss various issues pertaining to college fraternity.
CTA raised the demand of recognition of College Teachers in constituent Colleges and Schools of Cluster Universities of Jammu and Srinagar, restoration of increments for Ph D/M Phil and other Higher qualifications in favour of College Teachers as per UGC Regulations 2018, removal of disparity between University and College Teachers regarding enhancement of age of superannuation, creation of post of Professor, change of nomenclature of PTI, clearance of pending cases of placements of College Teachers in different grades, clearance of pending probation cases , transparent transfer policy ,increments for professional courses (MCA) , filling up of vacant posts of Principals on seniority basis and separate Directorate of Higher Education for Jammu and Kashmir Divisions, creation of additional posts of Assistant Professor and non teaching staff in existing Colleges of state, providing infrastructure and standard laboratory equipments, faculty improvement programme for college teachers, clearing pending cases of Ph D permission.
The Secretary gave a patient hearing and discussed about the various steps that can be undertaken in upgrading the standard of Higher Education in the State, establishing community colleges in the State to enhance the skills of the students so as to make the curriculum job oriented . He further stated that most of demands were under his consideration and would be resolved very soon. Regarding separate Directorates of Higher Education for Jammu and Kashmir, he was of the view that it was a genuine demand and would be considered.
The CTA delegation comprised of Dr Anil Ganjoo (general secretary), Dr Jagjeet Singh(Jt treasurer) , Prof Rakesh Sharma (Jt Secy) and others.
