JAMMU, Apr 28: The much awaited modern housing complex project of Jammu Development Authority (JDA) has missed its deadline.
The work on this project was started in the year 2015 where 72 flats were to be made at Muthi for which the aspirants had paid Rs 53 lakh per flat.
“When the project was started in the year 2015, we were told that the flats would be completed soon after which possession will be given to us,” one of the buyers informed.
“However, it is about four years as of now and completion of the work on the flats is nowhere in sight what to say of possession,” Bansi Lal (name changed)-another such buyer of the flats said.
It is pertinent to mention here that the state of the art housing complex was promised with all amenities like park, club, shopping complex, lifts with power backup, modular kitchen etc and it was advertised in April 2015.
“The first allotment was made for 22 flats in May 2015 and subsequently few more flats were allotted,” sources said.
“The timelines of making full payment of cost of the flats at Rs 53 lakh was set on day one through allotment letter and complete payment was to be made within three years,” sources further informed.
“We made complete payments of Rs 53 lakh last year wherein some of us have availed bank loan for timely payments to JDA but the possession of flats has not been made to us till date,” another buyer rued.
Still more such buyers said, many times they met JDA officials and even VC regarding possession of the flats but they were only given assurances.
Worthwhile to mention here that a complaint in this regard was also registered with J and K Government’s Grievance Cell in June 2018 wherein after a delay of some weeks JDA had replied that possession of flats will be given to the owners by December 2018.
However, when this deadline was also not met by the JDA, the buyers who had paid full amount for the flats were again dismayed.
Few month back, the Governor’s Secretary had also visited the construction site and instructed JDA to complete the project immediately.
When contacted JDA Vice Chairman, Vikas Sharma said: “At present the construction work is in full swing and most probably by June this year we will complete the project and give possession of the flats to their owners.”
On missing the deadline of the project completion, he said that he has taken over as VC JDA just two months back but still he had put all his efforts to work so that the completion of the project is not delayed any more.
