About 6.70 pc polling recorded till 1300 hrs in Anantnag

ANANTNAG: About 6.70 polling was recorded till 1300 hrs in Kulgam district in the second of three phase polling in Anantnag Parliamentary Constituency (PC) in south Kashmir on Monday.
The polling held under unprecedented security arrangements following strike called by Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) on Monday.
An official spokesman said that till 1300 hrs about 6.70 per cent polling was recorded so far.
The first phase in Anantnag district recorded 13.6 per cent polling on April 23 while the last and third phase election in Pulwama and Shopian districts will be held on May 6 in the constituency.
Polling started at 0700 hrs and will conclude at 1600 hrs in the polling stations.
However, at some places, including Laram in Homeshalibugh assembly constituency, polling was delayed by over 45 minutes.
At some places many polling stations have not recorded any vote. However, the authorities expressed hope that voters would come out and cast their votes as the day progress. A number of votes polled at Chawalgam polling booth, in Kulgam district which has four assembly segments–Noorabad, Kulgam, Homshalibug and Devsar.
Surprisingly at many polling there is no polling agent of political parties in the fray. However, Congress has managed to bring some polling agents from central Kashmir district of Badgam after the party could not get any local resident.
Zahid, a resident of Badgam said he was assigned the job by the Congress party to stand as polling agent in one of the polling station. Yes I am afraid since it is very tense with security forces deployed there.
