JAMMU, Apr 30: Theatre group Natrang here today in its ongoing 11th Theatre Fest staged Sarveshwar Dayal Sexana’s play ‘Hawalaat’ under the direction of Neeraj Kant.
Story of the play ‘Hawalaat’ revolves around three youth who have no place to live. It was the coldest night of the winter and they were without food and shelter. Since nobody was ready to offer them shelter, they thought it proper to have the same in a police lock-up.
For this they approached a police cop as criminals. Initially the cop was not ready to believe them and asked them to demonstrate their expertise in crime and past accomplishments. They tried to convince him by giving series of logics. To avoid them, the cop agreed to take them to the lock-up (Hawalaat) after tying their eyes. Instead the cop kept them taking round and round at a cross road and finally left them at the place from where they had started.
The play is a big satire on the exploitation of the youth by the present system.
The artists who performed in the play were Chirag Anand, Sushant Singh Charak, Gopi Sharma and Udit Sagar. The music was operated by Manoj Kumar Lalotra whereas the lights were designed and executed by Neeraj Kant. The show was coordinated by Mohd. Yaseen and was presented by Aarti Devi.
