NC steers J&K on path of peace, progress: Ramzan

JAMMU, Feb 21: Minister for CAPD and Transport, Choudhary Mohammed Ramzan on Thursday exuded confidence that emergence of youth leadership will further reinvigorate National Conference to meet the challenges with fortitude and steer Jammu and Kashmir to a new era of peace, progress, prosperity and development.
Addressing party workers during an interactive session, initiated at the behest of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for addressing the problems of workers and the people, at Sher-i-Kashmir Bhavan here this morning, the Minister said the unique blend of experience and burning passion in youth to serve the society as a whole is a good men for addressing the problems of people and assuaging their aspirations.
In this context, the Minister referred to the recent rejig in the Council of Ministers and the organization, saying this will go a long way in making the Government more responsive and organization pro-active to address various issues on administrative, developmental and political fronts. He urged the workers to gear up for translating the vision of Chief Minister into reality by putting in their best in terms of expanding mass contact, identifying issues facing to the people and seeking their solution.
“We hope young leaders of National Conference will maintain pace with the times for realizing the vision of young Chief Minister”, he said while referring to the endeavours made to steer the State to path of peace, progress and development.
Describing initiation of public hearings at the party headquarters as a step in right direction, the Minister said this will empower the workers and make them part of governance process which will ultimately manifest in further strengthening the party. He said the Government and the party has to work in tandem so that the workers get a feeling of participation in decision making.
Speaking on the occasion, Provincial President Devender Singh Rana described National Conference as a mass movement, evolved in a historic perspective with a definite role of being a representative body of the people living in Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh. He said the party will not abdicate its responsibility in ensuring the welfare of all and providing equitable opportunities of development and progress to these three distinct regions and their sub-regions.
The Provincial President noted with satisfaction engagement of youth in the party affairs, more than ever before, and exhorted them to carry forward the mission of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah in making Jammu and Kashmir a better place to live in.
Mr Rana assured the workers that he will work as their advocate in pushing forward their demands with regard to development of various areas. He described workers as the face of National Conference at grass roots level and hoped they will come to the expectations of the people.
Later, several deputations including J&K SRTC Employees Union led by Raja Munir Ahmad, All J&K Transport Association, J&K Goods Transport Association, All India Sleeper Coach Association, Jammu-Poonch Bus Operators, Kerosene Oil dealers besides delegations from Ramban, Banihal, Basholi, Udhampur, Rajouri, Gool-Arnas, Bathindi and Talab Khatikan met the Minister and projected their demands. A deputation of Gujjar and Bakarwals from across the province led by Choudhary Haroon also met the Minister and listed various issues facing to the community. The Minister assured that these would be earnestly looked into.
