JAMMU, May 5: Alleging discrimination against them, Non-Gazetted police pensioners today held protest demonstration near Press Club here today.
A large number of members of Non-Gazetted Police Pensioners Welfare Forum under the leadership of Ajit Singh assembled at Press Club here in the morning and started protest demonstration here today. They were alleging discriminated being meted out to them with regard to pay anomalies by the State authorities. They were referring to the Govt order No. 229-F of 2014, dated 17-10-2014 regarding pay anomalies.
While talking to the media-persons during protest demonstration, Ajit Singh pointed out that the effect is being given prospectively, which means from the date of order, whereas, the effect should have been given from the year 1996 when 5th Pay Commission was implemented through out the State. Unfortunately, only Police Department was left out. Many employees have been expired while waging their struggle, Singh added.
He pointed out that several Pay Anomaly Committees were framed and they gave their opinion and approval for time to time. The first committee was formed in 2009 and it gave its recommendations in Dec 2010 about removal of pay anomalies. The second committee was again framed in Sept 2011 and gave opinion to look into the issue of pay anomalies but the file went missing in secretariat. Third committee was framed in April 2016, but the committee report was awaited. There should be some time frame, he said.
Singh further said that an amount of Rs 5.93 crore for the retired ASIs/ HCs has been pending with the Home Department since 2015 be disbursed and a clarification with regard to pay anomalies be issued. The struggling pensioners are suffering for the last more than 20 years. He sought the intervention of DGP in to the matter.
