JAMMU, May 6: A retired officer of J&K police was killed by a man in Miran Sahib area of city outskirts.
According to a police official, the deceased person identified as Amarnath (65) son of Tunda Ram, resident of Kirpind (Miran Sahib), was hit and severely injured with a brick by a man namely Bishan Dass son of Mani Ram, resident of Kirpind, last evening.
He said Amarnath was a retired ASI of J&K Police and was returning to his home from the fields when the accused launched a physical attack on him. The spot of crime was just a few meters away from the deceased’s resident, he said, adding the profusely bleeding Amarnath was immediately taken to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, where he succumbed to his injuries today at about 3:40 AM.
“In this connection, a case under relevant sections has been registered at police station Miran Sahib while efforts are on to nab the accused,” said Inspector Gurupal Singh, SHO, police station Miran Sahib.
