SAMBA, May 7: A truck driver was killed after the vehicle he was driving fell into 400 feet deep gorge at Jamora area of Mansar in district Samba today.
The deceased has been identified as Nayeem Ahmed, son of Abdul Qayoom resident of Sarnal, Anantnag.
Police said the mishap took place at Samba Mansar- Dhar road near Jamora, when a truck bearing registration No JKO3E- 2807 which was on way to Samba from Udhampur, fell into a 400 feet gorge near Jamora suddenly after the driver lost the control on steering and vehicle rolled down on the road and then fell into gorge. After receiving the information the police and locals started rescue operation. Police succeeded in recovering the body of the driver who was killed on the spot after great efforts. The body of the deceased was shifted to mortuary room of District Hospital Samba for autopsy.
The police has taken cognizance of the matter and started investigation. His family members have also been contacted.
