Jammu, May 7: Jammu Heritage Society (JHS) today organized a programme at Trikuta Nagar wherein Chander Mohan Gupta, Mayor, Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) was the chief guest while Neeraj Puri, Councillor was the guest of honour.
JHS president Bhuvneshwar Gandotra welcomed the guests while Ajesh Rohmetra, General Secretary conducted the proceedings.
On this occasion JHS submitted a memorandum highlighting problems to the Mayor.
These problems included door to door garbage collection, awareness to ensure cooperation by all households in garbage disposal, converting over-ground bins into underground bins with sensors to alert when bin is 70 per cent filled.
Repairing of defunct street lights on flyovers at other major roads from railway station to Channi, correcting of leakage of PHE water pipes, developing of major heritage building and sites of Jammu, development of more children parks with modern facilities and also work on Tawi River Front may be undertaken on war footing.
Still more demands of the Society were starting of effective sanitation drive in the city as well as toilets for poor and needy to make Jammu open defecation free and roads and lanes be developed on the pattern of Ahmadabad and Surat.
JHS also made presentation on 2nd phase of Raghunath Bazar sanctioned by the Government before the Mayor.
The Mayor assured that work on most of the demands have already been undertaken which will be fulfilled at an earliest.
