JAMMU, Feb 22: Following theft of a question paper, the Director School Education today postponed remaining papers of ongoing Class 8th examinations in summer and winter zones of Jammu division and also ordered suspension of the Invigilators in the Centre at Poonch from where the paper was allegedly leaked.
Taking serious notice of the paper leakage, Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand, who holds the portfolio of Education Department, has also directed Deputy Commissioner Poonch to hold a probe into the leakage of question paper. An FIR has also been lodged in the case.
According to Director School Education, Dev Lata, there was a report of alleged tempering of seal of the envelop containing question papers at the Centre in Government High School Magnar, Poonch following which the decision for postponement of exams was taken.
“Owing to harsh weather conditions, it was not possible to rush substitute material (question papers) to the centres and thus all the examinations scheduled to be held from February 23 to March 3 have been postponed,” she added.
The Director further informed that an enquiry has been ordered into the alleged theft of the question paper while the concerned Superintendent and Invigilator staff of the particular centre have also been suspended.
The revised date sheet shall be notified separately, she added.
Pertinent to mention that class 8th exams in Jammu division had begun yesterday and so far only one paper was conducted.
