SAMBA, May 11: A massive fire broke out in the premises of the Army’s 129 TA ECO BN located here, today under mysterious circumstances.
According to reports, a massive fire broke out this afternoon at around 3pm, in Army’s 129 TA BN located at Jammu -Pathankot National Highway near TCP Ground Bus Stand here. When some people saw the flames coming out from CSD Canteen, they immediately informed to the senior officers, who rushed to the spot. When the officers saw the fire spread to other rooms, they along with Jawans tried to control on fire with help of buckets of water but they could not douse the blaze and fire continued to spread other nearby rooms.
The Army officers immediately informed the fire tender and after receiving the information fire tenders reached on the spot and tried to douse on fire but the massive fire could not be controlled easily. The fire tenders team along with the Jawans and officers continued struggle for two hours to douse the fire. Later they succeeded in controlling the blaze.
However no loss of life has been reported but the CSD room, store and nearby rooms were totally damaged in the fire. The reason of the fire is not Known.
However army has set up an inquiry into the matter.
