Lack of treatment, injured left hospital in protest

KATHUA, May 12: Despite the District Hospital Kathua is given the brand name as Associated Hospital Governemnt Medical College Kathua, the ground reality has not changed so far despite the bundle of announcements made to uplift the hospital.
In papers the district Hospital has all facilties but nothing is visible on ground. This can be gauged from the fact that when seriously injured six persons including women and children left the hospital without treatment in anger when no appropriate Medicare facility was given to them despite the wait of two hours. The injured in anger and cursing the hospital authority and State Government left the hospital for treatment at Jammu.
The matter came into light when a van on the way from Jammu towards Pathankot turned turtle on Maaggar Khud bridge. The six persons travelling in it got injured. They were shifted to District Hospital Kathua. When they reached in the hospital except the medical assistant, no one among the senior doctors was present in Emergency to treate them. Even the light of hospital was off and there was no arrangement of power supply to genset for X-ray or other Medicare test .
Despite passing two hours the patients including the women and children in injured condition suffered a lot for medicare . They created hue and cry for want of treatment. Ultimately they left the hospital. The injured Harmeet Singh and Devinder Singh condemned the attitude of hospital authority for no arrangements in Emergency wards. They said when there are no arranagments in Emergency ward what would be condition in general wards. They said that this hospital is situated on National Highway and road accidents are very common there. Even the hospital is associated with Medical College and arrangements are very poor than a village dispensary.
The Medical Superintendent Sanjeev Verma also reached the spot and made a call for doctors and other staff. But the injured patients moved to Jammu for treatment and demanded inquiry into the inefficiency working of District Hospital Kathua.
The injured are identified as Harbans Singh, his wife Kharshala, his son Harpreet Singh, Devinder Singh , his wife Annu and one year daughter Majoot and all residents of Jammu.
