One feared dead, 2 hurt in mishaps

RAMBAN, May 12: One person was feared dead and two others injured in two separate road accidents on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway today.
As per police sources, in both incidents, the truck drivers lost control over the vehicle while negotiating blind curves and their vehicles skidded off the road and fell into deep gorges.
A truck bearing registration number JK01P-0417 rolled down into gorge near Jaiswal bridge at Karool and later submerged into the Chenab river.

The rescuers saved conductor of the vehicle identified as Umar Ahmed, son of Mohammad Amin, a resident of Qazigund and shifted him to District Hospital Ramban, where he was undergoing treatment, when last reports came in. The driver identified as Mohammad Shafi of Qazigund is suspected to have drowned.
Meanwhile, another truck bearing registration number JK03F-1882 plunged into a 200-feet-deep gorge near Kunfer area of Chanderkote.
Its driver identified as Shahid Ahmad, son of Mohammad Yousuf, a resident of Achabal, district Anantnag suffered injuries and was admitted in District Hospital Ramban.
Cases under relevant Sections have been registered in the accidents at Ramban and Chanderkote Police Stations and investigation started.
