LEH, May 20: Congress candidate from Leh Lok Sabha seat, Rogzin Spalbar and Independent candidates Asgar Ali Karbalai and Sujjat Hussain Kargali are still waiting for the response on their complaint and reminders from the Election Commission of India despite the fact that counting will take place hardly after two days.
The elections for Leh Lok Sabha constituency had taken place on May 6 and they had lodged complaint with the Election Commission of India through Deputy Election Commissioner, Incharge J&K, Sandeep Saxena, on May 9 alleging malpractices and sheer violation of Model Code of Conduct in remote Zanskar Sub Division of Ladakh. They alleged intimidation on the name of religion for seeking votes.
On the basis of these allegations they filed complaint on May 9 and demanded repoll in Zanskar Sub Division. On May 14, again they flashed reminder and today on May 20 again yet another reminder to the Election authorities in Delhi and J&K. They said these acts are not only unconstitutional but also dilute the spirit of democracy. They said media bribery case of Leh has also shaken the foundations of democratic edifice. It is hoped that Election Commission of India would take note of it.
