PDP worker succumbs

SRINAGAR, May 20 : A 65-year-old People’s Democratic Party (PDP) worker who was injured critically last evening in a militant attack succumbed in SKIMS Soura this morning.
Mohammad Jamal Bhat son of Mohd Ismail Bhat was referred to SKIMS last night, where he succumbed to injuries at around 9.30 am today.

Jamal, the PDP worker, was fired upon by militants at his residence at Zangalpora in Kulgam last evening.
He was taken to Kulgam hospital from where he was shifted to SKIMS, the Valley’s only tertiary care hospital.
He was immediately operated upon at SKIMS and died this morning.
Jamal was PDP’s polling agent during the recently concluded Parliamentary election.
Meanwhile, militants this evening hurled a grenade on police station Shopian. However, there was no damage as it exploded outside the police station.
The grenade attack was followed by firing by militants and police retaliated. The area was cordoned off and searches were conducted but militants had fled the area.
