State Legal Services Authority releases interim relief for rape victim

SRINAGAR, May 22: Jammu and Kashmir State Legal Services Authority has released an amount of Rs one lakh as an interim relief to the minor girl allegedly raped by her neighbor in Sumbal locality of district Bandipora.
The relief under J&K Victim Compensation Scheme, 2013, has been released on the recommendations of Chairman District Legal Services Authority, Bandipora.
It may be recalled that on May 8, a minor girl was allegedly raped by her neighbor who lured her to a nearby school in Sumbal locality. The incident triggered widespread protests across Kashmir. The investigation agency has prima-facie established the commission of offence of sexual violence on the three year old victim who has suffered loss/injury arising out of the reported criminal activity.
