RAJOURI, May 25: The police in Rajouri district foiled two separate bovine smuggling bids in Kalakote area and rescued thirteen animals from the possession of smugglers.
Reports said a team of police, headed by SHO Kalakote, Tahir Khan under the supervision of SDPO Nowshera, Brijesh Sharma was on routine patrolling on Rajouri- Kalakote road. The team intercepted a Tata Mobile vehicle No. JK11B/ 4762 and found loaded with bovines. The police rescued the cattle and arrested its vehicle driver, Asif Mahmood, son of Mohammad Hafeez, resident of Palangarh in Thanamandi.
A case FIR No. 48/2019 under sections 188, 295-A, 3 PCA Act has been registered in Kalakote police station in this connection.
Similarly, another bovine smuggler Nasir Ahmed, son of Mohammad Shabir, resident of Palangarh in Thanamandi was found carrying bovine animals on foot to avoid police nakas.
The smuggling bid was foiled and accused smuggler was arrested on the spot. A case FIR No. 49/2019 under sections 188, 295-A RPC, 3 PCA Act has been registered.
Further investigation has been launched to ascertain the modus operandi of the smugglers.
