POONCH, May 29: Seven persons were injured when a Maruti Van skidded off the road and fell into the gorge in Kotan area of Mendhar Sub Division today.
Official sources said that a Van bearing registration No. JK02AW/8018 was on its way from Mendhar towards Upper Kotan. When it reached Lower Kotia, it skidded off the road and rolled down into nearly 100 feet deep gorge, causing injuries to seven persons on board. They were identified as Mohd Kafeel (26), son of Said Mohd, Zulifkar Ahmed (23)son of Dilpazir, Ibrar Ahmed (13) son of Dilpazeer; Mohd Ishtiaq (30), son of Mohd Basharat; Mohd Zafer -22, son of Mohd Azeem- all residents of Soyian Kotan; Farzana Koser-30, wife of Iistkhar Ahmed from Sandiot Balakote and Rabina Kouser-21, daughter of Mohd Shafi from Ari, all injured persons were undergoing treatment in Mendhar hospital.
Vehicle driver Mohd Aftab, son of Maskeen Hussion after accident ran away from the spot. Police has taken cognizance.
Block Medical Officer Mendhar Dr Parvaiz Ahmed Khan said all the injured are stable and are under treatment at Sub District Hospital, Mendhar.
