JAMMU, May 29: In an order, Higher Education Department has declared equivalence of certain subjects.
The order by Under Secretary Higher Education, Shabir Ahmad Baba quoted minutes of a meeting of a Standing Committee and UGC notified permissible nomenclature for various courses which was perused by the Committee and representatives of Kashmir University, to say that many of these degrees have already been declared equivalent by the equivalence committee.
The order also stated that there was parity in syllabus, duration and similarities of the chapters of the degree courses due to which equivalence was considered.
As per the order Masters degree in History is equivalent to PG in Ancient Indian History; Masters degree in commerce is equivalent to Masters of Finance and Control, M.Com in Finance and Control, M.Com in Finance and Taxation, M. Com in Business Administration and M.Com in Business and Management; Masters degree in Mathematics is equivalent to Masters degree in Applied Mathematics; Masters degree in Functional English is equivalent to Masters degree in English; Masters degree in Botany is equivalent to Masters degree in Environmental Botany, Masters Degree in Applied Botany; Masters Degree in Sanskrit is equivalent to Masters Degree in Acharya Sanskrit; Masters degree in Mass Communication and Video Production is equivalent to Masters degree in Mass Communication, Mass Communication and Journalism, Convergent Journalism; Masters degree in Computer Application is equivalent to Masters degree in Computer Sciences, M. Tech in (Computer Engineering), M. Tech in (Computer Science and Engineering); Masters degree in Computer Sciences is equivalent to Masters degree in Computer Application, M. Tech in (Computer Sciences), M. Tech in (Computer Sciences and Engineering), M. Tech in (Computer Engineering); Masters degree in Psychology is equivalent to Masters degree in Applied Psychology; Masters degree in Bio-Chemistry is equivalent to Masters degree in Clinical Bio-Chemistry; Bachelors degree in the relevant branch of engineering or AMIE India in the appreciate branch of Engineering is equivalent to Bachelors degree in Electronics and Communication, Bachelors degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Bachelors degree in Electronic and Electric, Bachelors degree in Electric and Instrument, Bachelors degree in Electrical and Renewable Energy Engineering; Masters degree in Chemistry is equivalent to Masters in Chemistry (Physical/ Organic/Inorganic); Masters degree in Geography is equivalent to Masters degree in Applied Geography and Masters degree in Geology is equivalent to Masters degree in Applied Geology.
