Srinagar, May 30: High Court today directed the jail authorities to produce the detenue Dr Ashiq Hussain Factoo before the court through video conferencing as also provide accessible medical treatment to him and produce the record of such treatment on next date of hearing.
The Division Bench of Chief Justice Gita Mittal and Justice Rashid Ali Dar hearing the application filed by the Factoo through his counsel seeking providing of adequate medical treatment, directed the jail authorities to make arrangements and produce him before the court.
Court said since the applicant Factoo is lodged in Udhampur Jail and the court wants to examine him, as such, sought his appearance through video conferencing on June 4. “In case video conferencing facility cannot be arranged in Udhampur Jail, let the applicant be taken to any convenient place in Jammu for the purposes of his production on video conferencing with us”, DB directed.
Dr. Factoo, husband of Asiya Andrabi Chairperson of Dukhtaraan-e-Milat is facing life imprisonment and is languishing in the jail for the last about 26 years. Court also asked the Registrar Judicial Jammu wing of the High Court to facilitate the production of the applicant from the available video conferencing in the court premises.
With regard to providing of adequate medical treatment to the applicant, his counsel submitted that as per instructions for not pressing for shifting of the applicant to the Central Jail Srinagar, however, the applicant would be satisfied if he is moved to Central jail Jammu so that the available medical treatment is accessible to him.”Let this request be examined by the respondents and a view taken thereon forthwith and place before us on the next date of hearing”, reads the order.
