JAMMU, May 30: The Engineers working in the Power Development Department and fresh aspirants having B.E Electronics and Communication Engineers today met at Canal Road office Jammu and discussed threadbare the issue of withholding the equivalence of degree order issued by Higher Education Department against Electronics and Communication background engineers for post of Assistant Engineer.
The members strongly resented the decision taken in haste at the behest of probably vested interests among the top bureaucracy. It is pertinent to mention here that the question of eligibility of Electronics and Communication engineers for the post of Assistant Engineer-Elect had been in question since 2013 and the matter had been referred to the standing committee of the GAD vide order no-1384 –GAD of 2018 dated 12/9/2018 for the purpose of opinion and order on equivalence and after a gap of nearly six years of this controversy the order was issued by Higher Education Department along with other cases mentioned in the said order referred above also communicated through media reports.
However the Higher Education Department through an immediate communiqué on 29/5/2019 on the subject matter of equivalence withheld its own order dated 28/5/2019 up to the extent of recommendations on equivalence with respect to the post of Assistant Engineer-Elect is concerned. This is beyond the realms of any sane understanding that such a high empowered committee rescinded its own decision without even referring the matter to the standing committee.
The engineers feel cheated and find that there is a deep rooted conspiracy to create a deep divide within the department and also to debar Electronics and Communication candidates from the already limited career opportunities available in the State of Jammu and Kashmir. It is urged to the Advisor to the Governor for Higher Education Khurshid Ganai to order enquiry into this episode of rescinding of the order of Higher Education Department within 24 hours and let the truth prevail before the fresh aspirants.
