Fraud in construction of IHHL: Challan produced against officials of BDO office

SRINAGAR, June 1: The Vigilance Organization Kashmir ( now Anti-Corruption Bureau Kashmir), today produced challan against the officers/officials of BDO Office Baghat-i-Kanipora, who had allegedly misappropriated Government money and adopted corrupt practices in construction of a number of Latrine Points in Halqa Dooniwari.
Challan of case FIR number 06/2015 Police Station Vigilance Organization Kashmir, against accused public servants and beneficiaries was produced before the Court of Anti Corruption Srinagar.
The instant case was registered in P/s VOK, on the outcome of verification conducted by this bureau into the allegations that the officers/ officials of RDD Block Baghat-i-Kanipora had misappropriated Government money and adopted corrupt practices in construction of a number of Latrine Points in Halqa Dooniwari. The verification revealed that during the year 2012-2013, officers/officials of RDD Block B K Pora selected 93 beneficiaries for construction of individual household latrine points (IHHL). The cost for each latrine point was fixed as Rs 10,500. All the beneficiaries were paid the 1st installment of Rs 5100/- out of TSC, total amounting to Rs 4,74,300/-. During spot inspection of randomly selected 37 beneficiaries of TSC, 13 Latrine Points were found non-existent.
Verification of these facts disclosed cognizable offences committed by the accused public servants and beneficiaries following which, case FIR number 06/2015 U/S 5(1) (C) (d) r/w 5( 2) JK PC Act SVT-2006 and Section 120-B RPC was registered in P/s Vigilance Organization, Kashmir and investigation was taken up. The investigation of the case was concluded as proved against the accused public servants and beneficiaries.
The Challan of the case was accordingly produced before the Court of Special Judge Anti Corruption Kashmir Srinagar. for Judicial determination and the case has been listed on June 8, 2019 before the said court.
