JAMMU, June 1: Divisional Commissioner, Sanjeev Verma, today chaired a meeting of Engineers of PHE and Power Development Department to review the water and power supply scenario in Jammu Division.
The meeting was attended by Chief Engineer M&RE Jammu, Sudhir Gupta, Chief Engineer, System and operation Jammu, Gurmeet Singh Engineers of PHE, PDD, I&FC and other concerned while Deputy Commissioners of Kathua, Samba, Jammu, Rajouri, Poonch, Doda and Udhampur along with engineers of concerned departments attended the meeting through video conferencing.
The Deputy Commissioners apprised the Div Com of the requirement, availability and shortage of water, power in their respective districts.
They also informed that there is power crisis in some of the districts due to low voltage and power cuts.
The Div Com asked the concerned department to provide water through tankers in the water scarce areas to meet the shortage. He also directed PDD for resolving these issues for meeting the shortage of power supply.
The Chief Engineer M&RE informed about the initiatives being taken to meet the increased demand. It was informed that they have taken up the matter with administration department for power infrastructural development
The Div Com asked the Deputy Commissioners to constitute a committee of officers for capturing feeder wise data of power cuts. He also asked for constituting quick action teams.
