UDHAMPUR, June 1: Udhampur Police today foiled an attempt of bovine smuggling and rescued 43 cattle from Chenani, besides arresting two smugglers in this connection.
Giving details, SSP Udhampur Rajiv Pandey said that based on a reliable information, a police party of Police Station Chenani, led by SHO Paramjeet Singh, under the supervision of Santokh Raj Deol, SDPO Chenani and Rajinder Kumar Katoch, Addl SP Udhampur, laid a naka at Motorshed, Chenani and intercepted two trucks bearing registration number JK 02AF- 4925 and JK14 C- 3247.
During search, 43 bovine animals were found loaded in both the vehicles without any permission. All the bovine animals were rescued and both the drivers, namely Anwar Ali son of Fathay Ali of Jammu and Aqib Khan son of Mohd Rafi of Kheri, Udhampur were arrested on the spot.
In this connection, case under relevant sections of law was registered at PS Chenani.
