JAMMU, June 2: The dead body of an unknown man was found floating in a canal in Trikuta Nagar area of city outskirts.
“Some children of migrant labourers while bathing in a canal near Hotel Grand Inn in Trikuta Nagar area spotted a male dead body floating in the canal this afternoon,” a police official said, adding after fishing out the body from the canal, they informed the police.
He said the body was shifted to mortuary room of Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu for identification/postmortem. “Later in the evening, the deceased was identified as Ranjit Kumar Jha (29) son of Vijaya Jha, resident of Bihar”, he added.
The official said that inquest proceedings under 174 CrPC were initiated in this connection at police station Trikuta Nagar.
