Labourer dies under mysterious circumstances

REASI, June 5: Two labourers hired by a Railway Construction Company fell critically ill while taking lunch along with their co-workers and one of them died on way to hospital, here today.
The deceased was identified as Rahul of Kapurthala, Punjab. He and his colleague Yash Pal, son of Balvinder Singh of Kapurthala, Punjab, fell critically ill and became unconscious while taking lunch along with other co-workers, this afternoon. Co-workers shifted the duo to CHC Katra where doctors declared Rahul as brought dead while Yash Pal was referred to GMC Hospital Jammu in view of his serious condition.
Police has registered a case in this connection for further investigation while postmortem of the dead was also conducted. Even as cause of death would be ascertained only after the postmortem report is received, Police has come to know that both the labourers were drug edict. Overdose of drugs could be an apparent reason of death as possible poisoning of food would have affected other co-workers also.
Police has also recovered a syringe and some intoxicant drugs from the belongings of the deceased.
