JAMMU, June 6: Congress has lambasted the BJP Government over the contentious issue of delimitation of Assembly seats in the State and termed its reported U-turn on the issue as a betrayal of the mandate of people.
Questioning BJP for its commitment to the people for seeking votes over the issue of ensuring equitable share in political power to Jammu region, JKPCC chief spokesperson Ravinder Sharma said the Government of India, especially Home Ministry, has succumbed to the pressure and shelved the plan in less than twenty hours. It is very unfortunate that BJP has given tall slogans and false promises but when it comes to delivery, it is very weak.
Meanwhile, while reacting to news of setting up of delimitation commission in the State by Central Government, former Minister and president DCC Kathua Dr Manohar Lal Sharma said that if BJP Government is really sincere then it makes sure that delimitation commission is set up in time bound process and assembly polls are conducted afterwards implementing delimitation commission reports with addition of new assembly constituencies in the State.
Likewise, president DCC Samba Manjit Singh today said that Modi Government is not serious in delimitation of assembly constituencies of Jammu and Kashmir. “If the Central Government which has come for second term would have been serious, they would have done it instead of creating media hype,” said Manjit Singh in a statement.
