MENDHAR, June 8: Sarpanchs and Panchs of Balakote block held protest demonstration against the Rural Development Department (RDD) and demanded release of pending bills of the contractors and MGNREGA payments of the workers.
A large number of Panchayat members came out on the road near BDO office at Balakote and stalled movement of vehicles. They were protesting against the BDO office staff and the RDD authorities. They alleged that despite repeated requests to the BDO and his staff, the payments of the people have not been made since long. They raised slogans against the BDO, ACD Poonch and Director RDD Jammu. Later, with the intervention of police the road was cleared.
