Agra police arrests accused in case of ‘Triple Talak’ after Yogi’s intervention

LUCKNOW, Jun 11: After intervention from Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Agra police on Tuesday arrested an accused in the Triple Talak case, and sent him to jail.

Chukru Rehman from Rakabganj in the Taj city was arrested after his wife Tarannum lodged a complaint with the CM. Following the arrest, the victim expressed her gratitude to the Chief Minister.

Tarannum, a resident of Dhobi Mohalla, Sadar Bazar, Agra, wrote a letter to CM Yogi Adityanath and requested action against her husband for oppression and domestic violence. In her complaint she said her husband divorced her by saying Talak thrice, without any valid reason.

CM Yogi Adityanath directed the administration to take immediate action, following which, Agra police filed an FIR against the accused Chukru Rehman and arrested him.

According to the details Tarannum was married to Chukru Rahman. The couple have three children. Tarannum wrote a letter to the Chief Minister and complained that her husband had married another girl from his own Madarsa. After this, he divorced Tarannum by saying Talak thrice and asked her to leave the house. Taking cognizance of Tarannum’s complaint, CM instructed the district officials to take appropriate action.
