No compromise on terrorism, secessionism: Chrungoo

JAMMU, June 14: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State spokesperson on Kashmir Affairs, Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo, in a statement today said that there can be no compromise on the issues of terrorism, secessionism and corruption.
Responding to the statement issued by the Pakistan Prime Minister, Imran Khan from Bishkek that the relations between India and Pakistan are currently at the lowest ebb, Chrungoo said the current status of relations between the two neighbours is a clear outcome of the Pakistan’s foreign policy that has recognized terrorism as a strategic asset for Pakistan against India. Moreover, Pakistan has miserably failed to live up to its promise to disallow use of land under its control for terrorist activities against India, he added.
He said Pakistan will have to publicly show up its intent to eliminate terrorism to the global community. It is only then, that the dialogue process can have some hope to restart. Pakistan has been currently recognized as the epicentre of global terrorism and it is up to Pakistan to come clean on the issue, he added.
Chrungoo said that the wishes of the Hurriyat Conference for any Indo-Pak dialogue are preposterous since Pakistan has ceased to be an institution that can be taken on its face value. It needs prima facie to produce results particularly on the terror front internally and externally. The so-called theory of Pakistan about the “non-State actors being responsible for terrorism” is now altogether redundant, he added.
BJP leader said Pakistan had never any locus- standi on Kashmir particularly when the people of Jammu and Kashmir gave an overwhelming verdict in favour of the Indian Constitution and democracy during the last seven decades. Hurriyat, instead should take into confidence the religious, social and civil leadership of the Valley to persuade the men-with-gun to surrender before law and help in establishment of peace and end terrorism, he added.
Reacting to Farooq Abdullah, NC President that the Centre is trying to influence the Assembly polls in the State, Chrungoo maintained that the NC leader is unfortunately oblivious of the ground realities in Jammu and Kashmir. The whooping score of 47% across the State in favour of BJP is an expression of the people’s choice. In such a situation, the Central Government would like to have the elections anytime, he added.
