One arrested with 560 kg poppy straw

KATHUA, June 14: Special Operations Group of J&K Police along with sleuths of police post Ramkot achieved a major success by recovering 560 kg poppy straw and arresting a narcotic smuggler.
“The consignment was being illegally smuggled in a truck bearing registration number HR56A- 0209 at Challain Chowk under the jurisdiction of police post Ramkot, this evening,” a police spokesperson said, adding the driver of the truck identified as Satish (27) son of Mohinder Singh, resident of SSK Factory, Jaghu Shah Dera, Kapurthala (Punjab), have been arrested and truck seized.
The arrest and recovery was made during a special naka laid jointly be SOG Jammu led by SI Rohit Gandhi and sleuths of police post Ramkote led by Incharge SI Sumit Magotra, at Challain Chowk.
In this regard, a case FIR No 75/2019 under relevant Sections of NDPS Act stands registered at police station Billawar and investigation taken up.
The whole exercise was closely monitored by SSP SOG Jammu Sandeep Mehta and was carried out under the supervision of SSP Kathua, Shridhar Patil.
