Tributes paid to Kargil war hero Major Jasrotia

JAMMU, June 15: Glowing tributes were paid to Kargil War hero, Major Ajay Singh Jasrotia who rendered supreme sacrifice on June 15 fighting the enemy.
In a function organised here today where Maj Gen Goverdhan Singh Jamwal (retired) President J&K Ex-Services League presided over, the speakers said, if martyrs are not respected the security of the nation will never be ensured.
General Jamwal while speaking on the occasion talked about military background of Major Jasrotia’s family.
He recalled the heroic deeds of Maharaja Gulab Singh, General Zorawar Singh and Brigadier Rajinder Singh who conquered Ladakh and Baltistan and also saved the State from Pakistan aggression in 1947.
The General expressed regret to see the pathetic conditions of Jasrotia Park as well as another Park F/P-4 Named in the honour of Martyr Sub Nain Singh and asked the Floriculture Department to maintain both the parks.
Speaking on the occasion Major J.S Baloria, Lt Col Charanjeet Singh, Naresh Sharma and S. Gurpuran Singh highlighted the glorious acts of the martyrs.
The function was attended by Veena Jasrotia and Dr Rohit Jasrotia-mother and brother of the martyr along with prominent citizens, retired army personnel and others.
