Ladies Special Bus launched in Rajouri

RAJOURI, June 15:  Keeping in view the safety and convenience of women while travelling, the District Development Commissioner Rajouri Mohammad Aijaz Asad today launched a ‘Ladies Special’ bus service in Rajouri.
The special mini bus service for women was flagged off by the Deputy Commissioner Rajouri from old bus stand Rajouri.
On the occasion the DDC said that the purpose of starting this service for women is to address the inconvenience caused to the women while travelling. He also said that the district administration is committed to uphold the basic rights of women passengers to live, work and travel in a secure environment.
The DDC said that a team of Traffic Police will monitor the bus service to ensure its smooth movement. It was informed that the route of the bus service is from old bus stand to Salani, Muradpur, Dhangri, Jawahar nagar and then to District Hospital Rajouri and vice versa. This will provide an opportunity to women to travel in smooth and hassle free manner.
DC mentioned that the launch of Ladies Special’ is a pilot project. In days ahead, more Pink Buses will be rolled out to Institutionalize the Special Bus Service for the women.
Senior Superintendent of Police Yougal Manhas, Assistant Regional Transport Officer Inzar Ahmed Rana, representatives from the district administration and private transport association were present during the flag off ceremony.
