JAMMU, June 16: Daughters of Panun Kashmir (DoPK) organised the Shradanjali Divas of Gool Martyrs here, today.
Dr. Ritu Bakshi, vice-chairperson of DOPK presided over the function. MLC Ajay Bharti was the chief guest while noted artist Kanwal Peshin and Ashwani Chrungoo spokesperson, Kashmir Affairs BJP were the guests of honour. Advocate Umesh Shukla of Kanpur (UP) was the special guest while Virender Raina president, PK was the key note speaker on the occasion.
Upinder Kaul, general secretary, P K conducted the proceedings while Kamal Bagati general secretary (Org.) read the welcome address and Vimla Chrungoo,secretary-DoPK organised the programme in memory of martyrs.
Sushil Kumar Bhat, Ravinder Kabu and Ashok Raina, were selectively killed by the terrorists while they were going to Gool to join their duties in 1997. The two other martyrs who were brutally killed near Sarthal-Kishtwar and Doda included Kanya Lal Duda and Shiban Lal Garib. Floral Tributes were offered to them on the occasion.
Ajay Bharti MLC in his speech lauded the efforts made by the KPs and said that the community has proved that those who resist can only exist. The sacrifices of the martyrs will never go waste as they remain pious and sacred for all of us.
He said we as a society need to help our Matrishakti (women power) that has kept the flame of struggle alive by contributing both in and outside the home.
Virender Raina in his address highlighted the contribution of the martyrs and lauded the efforts of the family members in keeping the memory of their loved ones alive. He said that the political eco system is most favourable at the moment for the Kashmiri Pandits to fight for their geo political dispensation in Kashmir. The time has come to uproot the pillars of immoral political structures like Art-370, 35-A and unfair de limitation, he added.
Advocate Umesh Shukla extended his help and assistance to the cause of KPs.
Ashwani Chrungoo in his address said that the KPs struggle has hugely contributed in the consolidation of the nationalist forces in the country. He said that community has helped in chiselling the global narrative against the forces of terror and mayhem and added that with BJP Government in power good things are in the offing for the KP community.
Noted community activist H.L.Bhat also spike on the occasion.
