18 bovine animals rescued, smuggler arrested

UDHAMPUR, June 16: Udhampur Police today foiled an attempt of bovine smuggling at Tikri and rescued 18 cattle besides arresting the accused.
Giving details, SSP Udhampur, Rajiv Pandey said that acting on a reliable information, a police party of Police Station Rehambal led by SHO Ajay Bhat and assisted by SI Balram Sharma IC PP Tikri, laid a naka at Tikri, NHW Udhampur and intercepted one truck bearing registration number UP 78BT- 0378.
During search, 18 bovine animals were found loaded in the said truck without any permission. All the bovine animals were rescued and the truck driver, identified as Mohd Israr, son of Mohd Anwar of Saharanpur, UP, was arrested on the spot.
In this connection, case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Rehambal.
