Four militants remanded to judicial custody

JAMMU, Feb 27: 3rd Additional Sessions Judge Jammu has remanded to judicial custody four militants involved in killings of seven persons including four Village Defence Committee (VDC) members at Chakka Galiote, Panchari on November 30, 2001.
The militants involved in the killings were produced before the Court by Additional SP Udhampur, Binam Tosh, who is the investigating officer of the case.
This case was worked out about a month ago when Additional SP Udhampur while perusing the investigation of double murder case of Police Station Panchari arrested a surrendered militant Abdul Latief, son of Gulam Nabi of Chhachhwa Gool for questioning. During enquiry, Abdul Latief denied his role in the double murder case but confessed his involvement in the massacre of Chakka Galiote.
The disclosure of accused revealed that top militant commanders of Gool area belonging to HM outfit had hatched a criminal conspiracy at Sarthal Gool and then executed the elimination of seven persons on November 30, 2001.
The other co-accused militants were Iqbal code Amanullah, Billu Gujjar, both residents of Sumbar, Mohd Hussain, son of Hakim Din of Chhahhwa Gool, Latif, son of Gulam Nabi of Chhachhwa, Farooq Ahmed, son of Abdul Rehman Beg of Salbala Gool, Manzoor Ahmed, son of Gulam Mohd of Dalwa Gool, Gazi, Bilal Ahmed, Saddar Din, Nadeem, Shahid Latta Peer and Qari, all the residents of Gool.
On their statements, the other three accused namely Manzoor Ahmed, surrendered militant presently lodged in Udhampur Jail, Farooq Ahmed (surrendered militant), son of Abdul Rehman Beg of Salbala Gool and Mohd Din, son of Fazal Din of Tangar Morha Saidua, Ramban were also arrested and they were identified by the eye witnesses in the identification parade conducted by Tehsildar, Udhampur (EMIC).
The eight militants have reportedly been killed while whereabouts of one Mohd Hussain, son of Hakim Din of Chhachhwa Gool were still not known.
