Forest Deptt seizes 1786 polythene bags

KATHUA, June 16: The Forest Department officials have seized 36 bags 1786 polythene /BOPP bags of below 50 microns thickness at Lakhanpur Check Post near here today.
According to a Departmental handout a team of Anti Polythene squad at Lakhanpur Check Post led by Range Forest Officer, Munish Gupta at import side Check point Lakhanpur stopped a truck bearing Registration Number JK13B/7963.
On its physical verification the truck was found to be loaded with banned 36 bags /1786 kgs of polythene/BOPP bags of below 50 microns thickness.
On the verification it was revealed that the contraband was destined to Srinagar from Delhi. The truck along with contraband and other stuff was seized by the officials of Forest Department and a case has been submitted to Regional Director, State Pollution Control Board Jammu for initiating confiscation proceedings.
The operation was carried out under the supervision of Divisional Forest Officer, Kathua Rahul Singh ,overall incharge of Anti polythene Check Post and guidance of Samuel Changkija Conservator of Forests, East Circle Jammu.
