JAMMU, June 17: A delegation of Dogra Sadar Sabha (DSS) called on Khurshid Ahmed Ganai, Advisor to Governor J&K, Satya Pal Malik and discussed with him various pressing issues of the Jammu region.
Ganai gave a patient hearing and made on the spot decisions on most of the issues besides issuing directions to the concerned officers of the state Government for expedited action on others.
Former Minister and president DSS, Gulchain Singh Charak explained the details of impacts about the Set Top Boxes being issued by the Government and intimated how the population in Poonch, Rajouri, Akhnoor, Jammu, Kathua, Samba on either side of the LoC/ IB speaks Dogri, Gojri, Pahari and Punjabi. These areas need programmes in these very languages since they do not understand Kashmiri language, he said and urged for a strong Duggar Channel with satellite connectivity to serve the purpose of countering hostile Pakistani propaganda from across.
As regards progress on the restoration and renovation work of Mubarak Mandi complex, the Advisor issued orders for early identification of agencies to execute work for which tenders have already been floated. He also assured systematic shifting of archives in the old information building after proper renovation.
He also issued instructions to DC Ramban for immediate reversion of school timings as per summer zone timings to schools falling in Ramban, Gool and Batote regions. He assured action on rapid four lanning of the NH-44 to ease of the daily traffic jams and chaos hampering tourism in the area. He further assured to take action so that the pending payments are released to the sub/sub-sub contractors so that the work continues hassle free.
Th Gulchain Singh Charak also took up the issue of pending storm/fire damage compensations to farmers in Jammu region. The Advisor ordered the concerned DDCs to carry out speedy assessment and make payments without delay. Some issues of welfare of Ex-Servicemen were also raised and responded with very positive assurance by the Advisor.
Besides the president DSS, the delegation comprised of Col Dr Virendra K Sahi, Dr Vidya Sagar Sharma and others.
