2 PHE workers shifted to hospital as their condition deteriorates

KATHUA, June 22: Two PHE workers sitting on fast unto death since last three days in front of office of the Executive Engineer PHE Division Kathua in support of their demands were shifted to District Hospital Kathua by the district administration after the condition of their health deteriorated today.
The five members of PHE workers under the banner of All PHE, ITI Trained & CP Workers, Land Donors & Imprest Wages Association led by its president, Narayan Singh sat on fast unto death three days ago in the premises of office of Executive Engineer, PHE Davison Kathua in support of their long pending demands. They were also raising the slogans in favour of their demands.
The administration deputed a team of doctors to check the health condition of the fasting workers.
The condition of two workers deteriorated and medical team suggested that they be shifted them hospital. A joint team of police and civil administration, led by DySP, Rahul Rasgotra , Tehsildar, Kapil Khajuria and Executive Engineer, PHE Surjit Singh reached on the spot and shifted two persons to hospital for treatment. They also tried to negotiate on the issue and assured the fasting employees to take their issue with higher level. The president of the Association, Narayan Singh refused to budge on fake promises made by department during the last ten months of continuous strike.
He said that Association is fighting since last ten months for pending salaries of five years and permanent status. But Government did not pay attention to solve their grievances. So the Association is left with no option but to launch fast unto death strike to seek justice. He said two workers were sent to hospital and two more workers have sit on their place to continue strike.
He warned the Government to immediately release pending salaries otherwise they will not hesitate to sacrifices their lives for getting justice.
