UDHAMPUR, June 22: A massive fire broke out in Manthal forest area of Udhampur and engulfed a vast area thus causing extensive damage to the green gold.
The forest fire engulfed a large number of small and large trees in an area of around four square kilometers in Manthal. Hectic efforts of Police party from Police Post Tikri along with field staff of Forest Department ultimately led to control the fire.
Reports said that the forest fire started early this morning and before it could be controlled, the blazes had spread to a vast area.
Even as the fire tenders managed to douse flames in outer portion of the forest in Manthal hill area, the fire was still spreading in the interiors.
