Slathia, Sham inaugurate NRHM Sammelan at Samba

SAMBA, May 9: Minister for Health, Floriculture and Horticulture Sham Lal Sharma and Minister for Industries and Commerce Surjit Singh Slathia today inaugurated an NRHM Sammelan , here today.
The sammelan was organised by District Health Society Samba  in collaboration with NRHM Directorate with the aim and objective to create awareness among the people about the centrally sponsored flagship health scheme envisaging up-gradation of rural health services.
The ASHA workers, who are instrumental in carrying out this scheme at grass root level, were also   honoured at the function.
Speaking on the occasion Mr. Surjit Singh Slathia, appreciated the results obtained in the field of Health services and also  the role of ASHAs in achieving the remarkable targets under this Mission. He also appreciated the health department for putting Rs 10,000 at the disposal of panchayats for providing free medicines and other health services to the people.
Minister for Health highlighted the achievements of the Health Department.
He announced that from this financial year the allowance for uniform, including sweater for ASHAs will be enhanced to Rs 2500 from Rs 1000 being paid at present. The Minister also announced that each ASHA worker would be paid Rs 150 as mobile bill, besides the Government would pay for the private vehicle engaged by the ASHAs to escort delivering mother.
The Minister also announced that  20 bed full-fledged labour room would be set up at Parmandal PHC for the convenience of the local people.
He said that Government was committed to provide basic health care facilities to people living in every nook and corner of the State and child and mother health care is one of the important component of the overall health of the society.

K. Sharma, Director Horticulture J. N. Sharma, CMO and Medical Superintendent, senior doctors, Asha workers, multi-purpose workers and other concerned staffs of the health department and district administration.
