JAMMU, Feb 28: A sit in protest demonstration was held at Press Club, Jammu by JKDF activists led by Muraril Lal Balgotra, Senior Vice President, in favour of enhancement of widow and old age pension under social Schemes from meager amount of Rs. 200/- to Rs. 1000/- Per month.
The demonstration was held after Party President Anil Gupta received several representations and pleads from women organizations and other people regarding projecting of demands through the party platform.
Earlier the hundreds of JKDF activists including office bearers of Ladies Wing gathered outside Press Club, Jammu and raised slogans in favour of the genuine demands of women and elderly people.
While speaking to the media Veenu Khanna State President JKDF Ladies Wing, said, “Existing provision Rs. 200/- per month as widow/old age pension is a cruel joke! This meager amount even hardly can be utilized to meet a day’s requirement of a soul. It must be at least Rs. 1000/- per month as we demand.” We demand immediate enhancement of widow and old age pension. Lingering of issue can compel us to agitate over the issue” Said Veenu Khanna.
Shruti Khajuria District President JKDF Ladies Wing Said, ” Government should be sincere regarding issues related to women and their welfare especially of widows and old age persons.
