JAMMU, June 24: A policeman died today of a gunshot injury at a training centre in Sunjuwan area on city outskirts.
“Selection Grade Constable Arjun Dev (42) son of Dev Raj, a resident of R S Pura, was on sentry duty at Police Training Centre, Sunjuwan when his colleagues hear the sound of a gunshot coming from his post,” a police official said.
He said that when Arjun’s colleagues rushed to his post, he was found dead with a bullet injury in the face. “The body was sent to the Government Medical College for post-mortem and inquest proceedings started at police station Channi Himmat,” he further added.
The official said that the deceased policeman was presently living in a police quarter near Gulshan Ground, Jammu and was undergoing training for the rank of Havildar at police Training Centre, Sunjuwan.
