JAMMU, Feb 28: National Conference-Congress Alliance tonight devised strategy to counter Opposition in the Legislative Assembly on various issues including the adjournment motions moved for tomorrow by PDP and CPM seeking suspension of routine business of the House to discuss execution of Mohammad Afzal Guru and return of his body to the family.
CPM MLA MY Tarigami, PDF legislator Hakim Mohammad Yasin and Independent MLA Engineer Rashid didn’t attend the Alliance meet. However, two Independent MLAs Charanjit Singh Jasrotia (Kathua) and Tsetan Namgayal (Nobra) joined the dinner meeting at Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s residence.
The Alliance decided that newly elected Speaker Mubarak Gul would take a decision on the adjournment motions as per the Rules.
Some of the NC and Congress leaders also took up the issue of a couple of leaders of two parties giving statements against each other. The Alliance leaders were of the view that the two parties should work unitedly and refrain from issuing statements against the leadership of each other.
