JAMMU, June 27: PoJK Refugee Sangarsh Morcha, Chairman, Y.R Gupta has appealed to the Governor, Satya Pal Malik for political empowerment of PoJK displaced persons and fresh delimitation in J&K.
In a handout Gupta said that PoJK displaced persons are the first victims of Pakistani aggression who feel aggrieved as since their displacement from PoJK to till date they face political neglect since the formation of first government in J&K by Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah.
He alleged that Kashmir centric leaders have deliberately discriminated Jammu and Ladakh.
“This was facilitated by the arbitrary delimitation of seats wherein Kashmir was allotted 46 out of 87 seats i.e., more than half of total seats,” he said adding that the delimitation did not follow the universally accepted principles of population, area, geography and political aspirations of the people.
“The average voter per constituency in Jammu district is 91,905 while it is 78,225in Srinagar district. Likewise average area covered by a constituency is 212.36 km whereas in Srinagar it is 36.75 km,” Gupta maintained.
He alleged that that all these manipulations were done to ensure Kashmiri domination in J&K and denying political empowerment to Jammu and Ladakh.
He demanded amendment in Section 47 of the Constitution and fresh De-limitation Commission.
He also demanded amendment in Section 48 to defreeze 1/3rd seats i.e., 8 seats out of 24 reserved for PoJK displaced persons.
